The most frequent question I hear is "What going on Downtown?" So I thought the best way to keep everyone up to date is to start a new segment on our blog. So here we go! There is a lot of excitement about the U of S Campus opening next Fall. I have had developers visit from as far as Vancouver looking to invest in properties in the downtown core. We have had a few new businesses start up through the summer and I know of at least 3 opening this fall. As a part of our downtown improvement we are changing the street name signs to create a distinctive community from the rest of the city, keep an eye out for the new signs which will be installed soon. This year we offered mini-facade grants to Downtown Business owners. Take a stroll downtown to see which storefronts have had a make-over!
Another topic that I hear a lot about is the underutilized riverbank. While this isn't the mandate of the PADBID to facilitate riverbank development. I have been a part of discussions around the riverbank and we are working alongside the Historical Museum and the City of Prince Albert for a special project on the Riverbank that will be announced this fall. The new downtown police sub-station will be opening in October and in mid-September there will be two officers that will be visibly patrolling downtown. It is a very welcome addition to the forward momentum that already happening in the Downtown. click here for a link to an article with more information Do you have a question that you would like answered about the Downtown?
